Yoga ReTREAT Day 1: Climb the Mountain and then Lie Down

Thank you for joining me for this 5-Day Virtual Yoga "ReTREAT!"

At-home or on-the-go, anywhere with an internet connection and anytime it is convenient for you, this Yoga Virtual Mini-ReTREAT provides a restful and rejuvenating practice oasis daily. Take just a handful of moments, or hours out of your day, depending on what you have available

Each daily session is focused on one beneficial yoga pose, which you can choose to approach in a low-impact restorative manner and/or in a more energizing activated form.

Today we're getting grounded and stable, strong and relaxed with a selection of elongated shapes, including Mountain, Plank, and Savasana. We are starting off with a brief seated warmup, then moving through a few yoga poses which invite the experience of length and extension through the whole body, torso and legs.

Make the practice yours by trying my suggested variations as well as other favorites, get integrated and warmed up by doing the whole sequence, or go full-relaxation and skip directly to a restorative savasana.

Time Stamps to skip ahead or revisit your favorite parts:

Hello gentle person, Happy almost-August, still solidly Summer Break from school here in Germany, but back-to-school in many parts of the US. Making the most of a lighter season of work myself for reflection, dabbling in seasonal activities and hobbies. Saddened to hear of the delivery truck attack on Berlin Pride, a reminder that we must keep coming together for the cause of love and acceptance, to demonstrate and protest and take political action as well as live our fullest, freest lives....

Hello gentle person, Happy July and Quarter 3, as well as Independence Day to my fellow Americans! Cologne celebrates PRIDE/Christopher Street Day this weekend and I'm also marking 7 years of living here (according to local tradition I'm now a local), the end of the Schoolyear, and the arrival of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere, which has already been hitting hard with a days-long heatwave bringing extreme temperatures to the city. It is also Disability Pride Month! Strawberry Birthday Cake...

Blythe in the sunshine of late spring in Cologne

Hello beautiful, I hope this seasonal transition and email find you well, and that we may dance joyfully through the season. June to me means PRIDE and my birthday month (though Cologne celebrates PRIDE/Christopher Street Day in July), with lots of other significant events, such as Loving Day, Juneteenth, the Summer Solstice, Refugees' Day, end-of-schoolyear celebrations and goodbyes. At this point in the year, I also like to do some midyear reflection, lots of strawberry eating, rose...
