Happy World Ballet Day, Halloween & November gratitude

Hello gentle person,

I am thankful to have you here. That is true every day, and it also enriches my life to acknowledge my blessings and the beautiful folks who love and support me at harvest time, going into November and a reflective Holiday Season.

We have had our "Fall Back" Autumn time change from CEST to CET in Germany, and next week will return to school from a 2-week Fall break, though my offerings in other settings--in studios and online--have continued at a clip throughout October. It has been a blast doing ballet everyday, unbelievable that ADP month one is done, but I'm excited to see what the dancers will accomplish in the next 2 months of the 3-month intensive training. Had my first drop-in student, and others are welcome as space allows.

Current participants' and my schedule have led to a pause in offering weekly online Yummy Gentle Yoga for November, but I look forward to its return in December to support the community through the holiday season. Along those lines, I am currently fully booked and plan to re-open spaces for coaching clients again in January.

In Autumn, I look around my life, assess my creative materials, repair, maintain, and re-supply as needed. This includes back-to-school style writing tools, arts & crafts supplies, and dance gear, but also vehicles to transport me on my commute, meals and snacks to nourish me, and other key support structures that keep my life running in the very full days of the harvest season:

Other creations, recommendations, and questions for you are:

Listening:

Viewing:

  • World Ballet Day was October 28th this year, the theme was "How Stories Are Made" and there are a host of new free resources that were streamed on YouTube for the event
  • I don't need all-new supplies each season, but do re-supply as needed so I also shared a Creative Supplies Refresh and 2027 Planner Thoughts video on YouTube
  • Ballet Dancer's Sewing Kit video on YouTube showing my most minimal sewing needs as a dancer, as well as more comprehensive tools for home, camp, or sailboat.
  • My friend who is visiting turned us on to the "Ride or Die" comedy series and now I'm hooked

Practicing:

  • Ballet pointe work with my new shoes, tweaking fit with pads, ribbon placement, hair dryer, strengthening and play
  • Reflecting on Quarter 3 with my Regenerative July and Authentic August monthly reviews, September Bullet Journaling and Flip & Faves video (article to come)

Practicing Together LIVE / Adult Movement Classes:

  • Online Balletlicious Adaptive Ballet Barre+, Fridays 12:30-13:30 CET consists of mostly supported barre exercises with a little dancey centre work, building a strong, body-friendly, and graceful foundation for dance at home or anywhere in the world. (English and/or German)
  • No ABC Yummy Gentle Yoga in November, returning in December! Online Yogalicious Gentle Yoga is usually offered on Mondays 7-8:00pm CET (6-7:00am HI), provides a delicious mindful movement feast which balances strength, balance and coordination for mind, body, and spirit and is adaptable to all levels and conditions (English)

Inquiring:

  • What are you thankful for?
  • Which holidays do you celebrate as the year nears its end?
  • Which experiences of the season do you not want to miss?
  • How can I support your creative life?

Gladly share your response to the questions above or provide other updates by replying to this email.

Thank you for reading, for being, and for dancing with me, in spirit or in fact. Take care of yourself, pay attention, and keep moving mindfully!

Love, Blythe

Apple & Hazelnut Season

Hello gentle person, Boo, it's October! Colorful leaves and seasonal changes subtle and dramatic are all around in Cologne. Unfortunately this includes some nasty viruses in which, with the changeable weather and exposure to many students, I am partaking. Doing my best to recover for an exciting and productive month, and wishing you health, both physical and mental at this transitional time. Cat-o-ber in my journal School started in Nordrhein Westfalen, I've begun my elective classes for the...

Eclipsing expectations

Hello gentle person, Happy almost-September! Since my last message we have been enjoying warm weather in Cologne, and meanwhile my parents weathered Hurricane Lala in Hawai'i! They came through ok, though other areas were devastated by flooding. I've been dancing every day this month, with my own in-studio and online classes continuing as well as covering classes for colleagues taking vacation. Still had a bit more leisure time than I will soon, to explore some of the hobbies and activities...

Summer Arts and Crafts Camp journal spread

Hello gentle person, Happy almost-August, still solidly Summer Break from school here in Germany, but back-to-school in many parts of the US. Making the most of a lighter season of work myself for reflection, dabbling in seasonal activities and hobbies. Saddened to hear of the delivery truck attack on Berlin Pride, a reminder that we must keep coming together for the cause of love and acceptance, to demonstrate and protest and take political action as well as live our fullest, freest lives....
