7 things I learned dancing & sharing every single day in December, what moves us in 2025

Hello beautiful,
Gentle January continues with reflection and planning even as the business of executing 2025 projects, the daily actions and events are now well underway. It's been super chilly in Cologne, so any work I can do from my warm haven of a bed I do, emerging for bursts of dancing, teaching, and errands only to retreat again. Soon the festivity of Karneval will be upon us, but for now, laying the groundwork for a successful year.

My final 2024 Annual Reflection and 2025 declarations are still to come, but first to put a pretty bow on all the individual projects of the past year, summarizing my experience creating and participating in my Dance Daily December Challenge:

Reading:

  • Still working on Evocation: Book I in The Summoner's Circle by S.T. Gibson, but too slowly, have to return the ebook and place a hold to finish it in the future, meanwhile starting in on
  • Funny Story by Emily Henry, a highly-recommended book from last year that just became available and I'm pretty sure I'll read at a good clip

Practicing:

  • Online Balletlicious Gentle Adaptive Ballet Barre+, 7:30-8:30am CET Wednesdays, consists of mostly barre with a little dancey centre work, building a strong, body-friendly, and graceful foundation for dance at home or anywhere in the world (English)

Inquiring:

  • Which inputs and media are inspiring you right now?
  • What is your favorite dance style or technique?
  • Which type of dance or movement haven't you tried yet that you'd like to sample?
  • How could a mindful movement or creative dance enhance your life?
  • What do you dream of creating?

Hello beautiful, School began again in Nordrhein-Westfalen this week, and I'm in a flurry of preparation to meet new and returning students and teach and learn exciting things this fall! I've included a couple of schedule updates for September below and will keep you in the loop on further developments as I am able. What role can "gently Socratic" philosophical inquiry play in the context of performing arts education? I consider myself fortunate to have had the honor of participating in Dr....

Splits this Summer pt.3 Season of Stretching

Hello beautiful, July was about high summer, brought a heat wave and then cool rain to Cologne, and kicked off my "Swashbuckling Summer" and "Splits this Season" series with glowing energy and creativity. This week I've got an article about last month and two new videos for you, a flip-through of the month of July in my Seasonal Bullet Journal Book with reflections, and Part 3 of the Splits this Summer video sequence. Butterfly Bullet Journal Spread & Ephemera

Hello beautiful, Light as a feather, fluttering in springtime and summer, having had encounters with butterflies in just about every place I have been, I always feel blessed by their gentle presence. Butterfly, Schmetterling, Farfalle, Papillon…I love their many names, their movements, the science and the mystery behind their lifecycles. My late ex mother in law Janine Kirkpatrick’s art faithfully depicting endangered butterflies I find particularly moving. Beloveds do come to mind as a...
