Juicy June, happy PRIDE & birthday month, end of schoolyear sliding into Summer Fun

Hello beautiful,

I hope this seasonal transition and email find you well, and that we may dance joyfully through the season.

June to me means PRIDE and my birthday month (though Cologne celebrates PRIDE/Christopher Street Day in July), with lots of other significant events, such as Loving Day, Juneteenth, the Summer Solstice, Refugees' Day, end-of-schoolyear celebrations and goodbyes.

At this point in the year, I also like to do some midyear reflection, lots of strawberry eating, rose sniffing, cake-eating, hopeful for picnics, sunshine and warmth as spring flowers yield summer fruits in the northern hemisphere. It is a great time for dancing, some movers have the opportunity to participate in Ballet Intensives and other types of focused projects, performances, travel and growth, so also a key time to prevent injury and care for the body.

The parent of a curious, talented, and hardworking young ballet student asked me recently what resources I recommend for dancers to learn more about topics such as Anatomy, Kinesiology, Movement Science, and Injury-Prevention. They had noticed some of my articles on movement analysis and sustainable, mindful movement and wanted to see what further tools I might know of, so I recorded a video and wrote an article with what I've used to learn and which tools I refer to again and again:

Hello beautiful, Hope you had a peaceful World Tai Chi/Qigong Day, freely moving International Dance Day as well as the other events of April. After a full year away, I made it back to Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i and I'm so happy and fortunate to be able to spend time at home with my parents as well as have some time by the sea and adventures with Ela. For the next couple of weeks I'll be less connected online but still occasionally present and publishing, focusing on being here, celebrating my...

Hello beautiful, Happy March and almost-spring in the northern hemisphere! Since my last update, crocuses, snowbells, and daffodils have popped up and the days have gotten noticeably longer, lighter, and warmer here in Cologne. And I have seemingly caught every nasty virus (flu, stomach flu, COVID) currently going around here, putting a damper on my pre-spring plans. . Taking part in Eating Disorders Awareness Week again was awesome and another of my favorite events to collaborate on each...

Hello beautiful, Whether you are in a romantic place in life or not, I hope you feel loved in so many ways! I've missed you and feel we have much to catch up on. Self-love, friendship old and new, mentorship, family and chosen family love, I believe it is the most important thing, so it touched my heart to hear the resounding message in Bad Bunny's Superbowl 60 halftime show, among other powerful stories it told. "The only thing more powerful than hate is love." - Bad Bunny Happy Year of the...
