Waltzing on the Water, New Course!, returning from travels to CA & HI, Triplet Trilogy

Hello beautiful,

Happy Full Flower Moon, late May, and long time no see! I've missed you while I was away visiting family and having adventures in California and Hawai'i, but it's nice to return refreshed after a change of pace.

It was truly beautiful to show my girlfriend Ela San Diego (La Jolla! The Zoo! Coronado! Fish Tacos! and so much more), to hug my aunts and cousins there, and then to be with my parents and mentor on the Big Island. West Hawai'i Dance Theatre's production of "Giselle" was also lovely to see and an opportunity for me to emcee again.

Time spent on the beach and in the garden, caves, waterfalls, farmer's market, bright starry skies, rainbows, music and laughter... it is always hard for me to leave, but wonderful to be coming home in both directions!

For the most part, travel provided a pause in my social media and other publishing activities, but before I left I released a Dance Triplets tutorial on YouTube and while in Kona we captured a quick micro video choreo for "W" of my Alphabet Superset, enjoyed meeting for some of my online courses, and recorded for future YouTube videos.

Now that I'm back in Cologne, I return to my regular in-person offerings and starting next Friday, May 31st, I am offering Barre a Terre in a lovely new location!

My creations, recommendations, and questions for you are:

Viewing:

  • We recorded a waltz (actually our beginner attempt at a Tango waltz) by the water at the Kona Inn for “W” of my Alphabet Superset
  • Many long flights afforded time for reading and films, my favorite of which was the movie “Bros,” a sweet and challenging gay romantic comedy
  • “Anyone but You” was also a silly rom-com, perfect light plane watching
  • Grand Sumo May Tournament highlights on NHK, my parents got me into watching the highlights last year, and we enjoyed the first part of this month's installment together on television in Hawai'i

Listening:

  • "Meeka" by Steve Adams is a "Cinematic Calm" track on YouTube with a waltzy rhythm that I used for my Triumphant Triplet Trilogy dance video
  • "Water" by Tyla was the track for "W" and has been super popular this year in Germany, sure to be a summer jam
  • "Vacation" by Priya Ragu played on the radio in Kona, taking us back to her awesome concert last year in Cologne!
  • "Unstoppable" by Sia is a favorite of my little cousin Willow
  • Lady Gaga's "The Fame" Album is not new, but was a major part of the soundtrack of our trip as it happens to be the CD in my Mom's car as well as very present on the radio

Reading:

  • Finished The Honey Don't List by Christina Lauren, which proved that I am truly hooked on their books, another cute and empowering romantic novel
  • Started Find Your Unicorn Space, which is not quite what I thought it would be, but still a valuable nonfiction work so far about how to "pursue the unique creative expression that makes you uniquely and vibrantly you"

Hello beautiful, Ah, there truly is no place like home! It was such a treat to participate in World Tai Chi Day, witness WHDT's "The Wizard of Oz Ballet," and host my new Fine Feedback workshop here in Kona for student and emerging choreographers and dancers. We have also been hitting the beach, visiting with neighbors, touristing around, star and bird-watching and helping out my folks. On May Day itself, we were exploring the splendid Hamakua Coast beaches, gulches, and waterfalls on the way...

Mount Hood from Mount Tabor Park in Portland, OR

Hello beautiful, We had a magical time visiting Portland, Oregon, and it is good to see my family on the Big Island. So grateful to be in beloved places with treasured people, and definitely want to return sooner next time! This week and next in Kailua-Kona I am offering regularly-scheduled online classes, and the week of May 12th I return to classes in Cologne. I also have the opportunity to MC "The Wizard of Oz Ballet" at the Kahilu Theatre on Saturday and will be leading a new workshop I'm...

Hello beautiful, Spring is here in this "real time" and place of Cologne, Germany in April, 2025 and it's time for me to take on another creative writing challenge! Also want to accomplish something artistic this month? There are a lot of ways to make the process fun with support and accountability from others, and here I'm sharing how I'll be doing so this season (and how I keep my writing practices going on all year). On the blog this week, I'm sharing about my writing challenge for April:...
